Video peak is one of the most popular big mountain lines in Rogers Pass. As such, if you’re skiing the main SE face, it’s recommended to get an early start for this one. There are other lines off Video that are skied less often. Good to follow up with a ski into 8812 Bowl off Bruin’s Ridge or down the Hospital Gullies into the Connaught drainage.
Park at the Rogers Pass Info Centre and head up Connaught Valley towards Balu Pass until just past the first Hospital Gully. Head up through the trees here until you’re in Hospital bowl. From here, Video Peak will be in view and you can choose your path. The uptrack is lookers right of the peak. It starts by skirting just below the rockbands and works it’s way up the low point of the ridge that leads to Video Peak. Generally follow the ridge (there are some small bands of rock you can avoid by going below them) until you reach the summit.
Note: This is a busy area – setting an uptrack up the main descent slope should be avoided.
