A classic and popular line in the Bow Summit area. The first section of the Flower couloir, called the stem is a steep and narrow couloir which requires bootpacking. Above the stem is the bowl containing the petals. You can skin most of the way up from here, though some more bootpacking may be required to top out. Some will choose to only ski the stem but, if conditions permit, the petals can provide great skiing and excellent scenery.
Ascent: Follow the typical route up from the Bow Summit Parking Lot towards the south shoulder. When the terrain opens up, you’ll see the Flower couloir. Head towards the south shoulder chute and eventually hook right and make your way to the base of the stem. It’s all bootpacking to the top of the stem. You can continue skinning up the petals from here until the last 50-100m, where it’s back to boot packing.
Descent: Same way as the ascent.
