RAE GLACIER

A popular early season ski area as decent snow can be found in the north facing bowl of Mt.Rae. The glacier itself has receded significantly but there are still a few bergschrunds and overhead hazards to watch out for near the headwalls.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Park at the Elbow Lake trailhead parking lot and follow the summer trail. Once at the campground, turn right and follow the trail along the south side of the lake until it joins the Rae Glacier trail at the NE corner of the lake. Continue up the creek drainage. Once on the moraines, use caution as the approach to the bowl can be pretty rocky. Make switchbacks to climb the north side of Mt. Rae. Descend the same way.
