This is fairly popular spot for some short yo-yo’ing, especially for those new to Rogers Pass. However given that the route passes through multiple slide paths, it is not a place recommended for beginners.
Parking: The Rogers Pass Discovery Centre
Access: From the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre, head towards and up Connaught Creek. After about 600m, there will be a bridge on the right that crosses the creek.
In the early season when the snowpack is low, it’s best to stick to the left (south) side to avoid alder bashing at the base of the Grizzly slide path. This route does however pass through the hourglass and other avalanche paths. Shortly past the Grizzly slidepath, there’s a small bridge which connects with the regular season route.
During the regular season, cross the bridge to the north side of Connaught Creek and continue following it up. Eventually, the route goes across the rather large Grizzly avalanche path. Shortly past this slidepath is where the early season trail connects.
Continuing on towards Balu, the route is fairly obvious. Shortly past the Grizzly slidepath, it crosses the fairly active Frequent Flyer avalanche path. This is then followed by another very active area around STS and the North bowl of Cheops.
