As with the access to Hospital Bowl, follow the Connaught drainage until just passed the first Hospital gully, then ascend through the trees. Once in Hospital Bowl, gain the ridge on the skier’s left. Essentially follow this ridge towards 8812/Balu Peak, but be very careful – there is a very steep convex roll that can have high consequences. Once past that you’ll begin gaining Bruins Ridge. It starts off fairly easy but as you get closer to 8812, the ridge becomes sharper with some steep sections. When the ridge has been hit hard by winds, this section can test you’re technical skinning abilities. It’s not advised to ski down once at these sections – there are several potential trigger points that can lead to a slide. These sections are short, and once past them, you’re nearly ready to ski into 8812 bowl and the remainder of the route should be clear.
